I get your point, but we need to acknowledge that there comes a point that Biblical truth must prevail. If the denominational leaders (in my tradition, SBC messengers) determine that there's a Scriptural/doctrinal line that can't be crossed, then the line must be clearly drawn.
From what your original post contained, I think I understand your viewpoint, and can agree to a point. However, when cultural trends in egalitarianism, acceptance of LGBT and other letters after as an acceptable norm within the church are being promulgated, then those lines are Biblical truth. We can live and accept all people where we find them, but we can’t be content to leave anyone without challenging them to grow in grace which includes turning away from our sins, whatever they may be.
The point of my post with reference to the CRC is that when denominations don’t make room for legitimate differences in viewpoint, even based on faithful reading of scripture, will leave younger populations feeling like there is no place for them and they will take their congregations elsewhere.
Do you have any information on Christ the Savior CRC in South Bend? Are they an affirming congregation?
I don’t know.

Just because some denomination's leaders are drawing a line doesn't mean that "Biblical truth" is prevailing.
